Veer in his room near the window. Tapasya comes to the door and knocks. Veer doesn’t answer so she says “Veer?”. She comes inside.
She says I want to talk to you.
Veer says, but I don’t want to talk to you.
Tapasya says, is that because your Mai told you not to?
Veer stays quiet.
Tapasya says, do you think whatever your Mai tells you is the truth?
Veer says, she doesn’t lie to me.
Tapasya says, but she doesn’t tell you the whole truth either.
Veer says what do you mean?
She says, I know that you remember some things about your past life, you have some unclear memories… but how can someone erase your entire past from your own house? Haven’t your family ever talked to you about your wife – I mean, Icha? They didn’t discuss her with you?
Veer shakes her head.
Tapasya says, then why didn’t you try to find out what was their purpose? Why are they behaving that way towards Icha.
Please try to remember… get your old memories about your wife, your son… it may hurt a little… but try, and when you try it may work.
Gunwanti comes to the room with a glass of milk and sees Tapasya and Veer.
Tapasya is telling Veer to try and remember, when you remember clearly, you’ll know what’s going on?
Gunwanti says what’s all this?
Tapasya tells Veer, I’ll talk to you tomorrow and starts leaving.
When she passes Gunwanti, she asks what were you talking to him about?
Tapasya says, ask him yourself.
Gunwanti makes a face and says, don’t come back here again.
Tapasya says, talk to me politely “Jethani ji”, I’m not your bahu anymore.
Gunwanti asks her to go and closes the door.
Tapasya stops outside the door.
Gunwanti brings the glass of milk to Veer and asks what’s wrong? What’s he thinking? Don’t believe in a word of what that woman says, she says anything she wants.
She stirs the milk and asks him to drink it, Veer says I don’t feel like it.
Tapasya opens the door a little and peeks in.
Gunwanti says, you’ve just come back from the hospital, you need to look after yourself…
Veer refuses again.
Gunwanti says, it’s not just milk – there’s “maawa” in it too… you like that right? Now drink it.
Tapasya thinks, why is she forcing him to drink the milk?? There’s something fishy going on.
Veer takes the glass but doesn’t drink… Gunwanti insists on him drinking it and says I want you to get better quickly.
Veer drinks it. Gunwanti smiles and leaves.
Tapasya comes in her room and sees Tej fully drunk. She says, now what the alcohol will make you do, you’ll do that!
She says don’t drink so much.
Tej says why are you worried about my health.
Tapasya says, who else will look after you? I married you just now, I don’t want to break my bangles just yet. I feel as if I’ve made a mistake.
She starts leaving and drops a bunch of papers.
Tej asks what it is?
Tapasya says, they’re our marriage papers… they can only become legal if you sign it – I mean if you put your thumbprint on it. Only then you can get your half of the property.
Do you want me to read those for you?
Tej says, no need for that.
Tapasya says, I am here to make a deal with you. You want your share in this house and I need a space to live in this house… after that you do whatever you like, I don’t care. These papers are very important for you… after that, whatever you say I will do.
Tej says will you listen to me and do whatever I ask you to? Tapasya says yes.
He says, then you’ll sleep on the floor from tonight and I’ll be on the bed.
He puts his thumbprint on the papers and Tapasya smiles.
Tej says, now I’m the owner of half of this house, now leave the room, I will sleep on the bed.
He gets up and goes on the bed.
Next morning:
Tej greets the lawyer happily and asks are the papers ready? He asks how much property came in my share?
Lawyer says, don’t talk like that… you will get tired of counting.
Tej gets happy and hugs him.
He says, now say it out loudly so everyone listens to it.
Lawyer reads it loudly and says because of marrying within 15 days of his death, you’ve become half owner of the entire property.
Tej laughs like a lunatic and says I’ve become legitimate now.
Lawyer informs Tej that I got your marriage registration papers with your thumbrpint and your wife’s signature… so now, according to your wish, whatever you owned, half of it has been transferred in your wife Tapasya’s name.
