Location: In the village
Shvi and anandi arrive at suman’s house and tell a boy,raghu to call other girls from the village.Soon lots of villagers come upto greet them.Anandi extends them the invitation for all those girls who have been outcast from the society in the name of being divorcee and widowed,to particiapte in her mehendi in the evening.Everybody is surprised but she is determined that this is what she wants,that every girl who has been deprived of the right to participate in some happiness can be a part of her big day.A villager asks her if she is questioning tradition.She replies saying that she has a great importance and respect for tradition but depriving somebody their basic happiness is injustice ion the name of tradition.She asks a girl to inform all other such girls about their invitation.Shiv tells them that on occassions like this u cn be happy only when the heart is happy,and that would be when such girls also enjoy therefore they want everybody to get some henna on their hands.She sasy that she would wait for all of them in the evening to see who all would give her company.All villagers are perplexed.Shiv and anandi leave.
Location: Jaitsar haveli
The haveli is busy with everybody neck deep in preparations.When anandi comes in,dadisa comments on her being so late when she was just asked to see off shiv to the gate.She replies that she went to suman’s house for invitation to all the unfortunate girls who havent been allowed to come to her mehendi.Dadisa is tensed and is uncertain whether they would send off their daughters to her,since they cannot have the courage to go against their tradition and fear boycott from their community,despite anandi pleading that they have a right.Dadisa agress with bhairo that what she did was right but is in doubt if what she wants would actually happn.Anandi is about to says something but bhairo stops her and motions her not to worry.
Location: Shiv’s house in jaitsar
Shiv’s announcement in his faamily too evokes mixed responses.while on the one hand,sanchi is extremely embarassed that her friends knowing about shiv and anandi are coming to the village to participate in the fuctions,alok is completely in the favour of shiv’s descision saying that its a very rare noble cause to find happiness in others’ wellbeing rather than their own.Ira tries to make her understand that Anandi is a girl of high thinking and noble mentality and that shiv is lucky to have her.shiv is tensed but dadji gives a reassuring pat on his shoulder telling him not to worry.

Sumitra showing two lockets to bhairo,that badi masi has sent for anandi and shiv reminds him that she had already given same ones to jagiya and anandi.They are reminded of how she had taken it from jagiya and given it to anandi in the hope that one day,when jagiay comes back to her,she would give it back to him.She says that when masi knew about anandi and shiv,all her dimming hopes too shattered and she kept crying all night.But later she understood that anandi’s happiness lied in it and therefore accepted the relationa dn got these made for them.She also told sumitra to give this to anandi and tells her to start a new life with it,unburdened by the shadows of the past.After all she too wants anandi’s happiness.Sumitra comments that they all want that since it small things as inviting the unfortunate girls to her mehendi,that make her so lovable and also make them so proud of her.Bhairo comments that he has a confusion on whether to be happy on her marraige or sad that soon she would leave them with an inevitable void.That it feels like his inner strength going away along with her as this house is incomplete without her.
Sumitra says that she wants to say something.Soon anandi would go and she prays that her new life will start with loads of happiness.But jagiya too has changed,is penancing and would soon return after completing his punishment and wishes that they give him too a chance at a new life, just like anandi got and bring him home,since in such a tough time,he would need the love and support of his family.Bhairro too feels that whatver he has done,after all he is their son and is on the right path of life.Therefore he would talk to dadisa.Dadisa,who has been hearing all this while standing in the doorway,comes in and says that sumitra said what she herself had in her heart and therfore ther’s no need to ask her.She tells sumitra that her son would come home to his family.She says that she understands what sumitra is going through but since its a big day in anandi’s life when her hand are going to be decorated with mehendi,they should not cry and wipes her tears and cups her face.

The prep for mehendi going on in the haveli.Phuli gets the nehendi from shiv’s house for anandi.While dadisa tells heer to get anandi down,she starts inspecting the mehendi.When anandi comes down,and touches dadisa’s feet.she blesses her and also says that this mehendi might not be qas good as she made,but definitely it has shiv’s love and ira’s affection and should be put on her hands.She asks sumitra to mix this mehendi with theirs and start the programme.The lady is about o put mehenedi on her feet when she stops her saying they should wait some more,without giving a reason.but dadisa remembers her wish and tells her that she should not waste time as no one has the courage to go against years of tradition and come here or get their daughters here.Anandi is adamant that she would not put mehendi till they come and put henna on their hands,who are termed as outcastes from the society for no fault of theirs.She says that she has promised the Goddess that she would not put henna till she gets every unfortunate hands coloured with it.
While they are arguing over it,suman’s mother comes and tells anandi that she doesnt know what she did was right or wrong,but she had faith on her and left everything else on the lord.Anandi is very happy to see suman and hugs her and asks her about the other girls.All the others too came there.And anandi happily starts with the mehendi ceremony when she sees the girls with teary eyes to see henna on their hands aftre a long time.

Sanchi forcibly does the shagun on shiv’s hands but loses it whn ira asks her to put henna on her hands too,citing that she shouldnt be forced for everthing,as it is she is wearing an indian dress for their sake but she cant put henna as she is allergic to it.Ira too says that she too wont put if she doesnt.Mahi comes in and lightens the mood saying that he’s so interested but nobody’s asking him.Sanchi reluctntly agrees.Shvi intentionally draws crooked lines on her hands which prrompts her to get a proper mehendi done from the professionals.Ira too starts with it.

Anandi who is happily watching the mehendi ceremony is joined by dadisa exclaiming on her win over the world and now that she got what she wanted,its time for her mehendi too.She sits and the lady starts doing her mehendi on the feet.Gehna,ssumitra,sugna,bhanwari and the otherladies too sit down for the ceremony.Seeing gehna look around for something,bhanwari assk her what does she need.she says she’s thirsty and wants a glass of water.Nandu is asked be gehna to get her water but he is too much into playing and doesnt pay attention.just then basant walks past,and bhanwari instantly seizes the oppurtunity to call him to say that gehna needs to talk to him.She is totally embarassed while others are amusedly asking her to follow on.She tells basaant her problem,he looks around for makhan but not spotting him,he himself takes her to the dining table,and gives her a glass of water.she shows her henna smeared hands and expresses her inability to drink herself.Conscious but still,basant feeds her water.Bhanwari seizes this moment to be brought to the notice of everybody and an embarassed basant scurries off from there and gehna too joins the ladies shyly.
When anandi’s hands are about to b put henna on,she tells dadisa that she has a wish that dadisa puts mehendi on her hands.Dadisa is shocked and says that now she is asking for too much as she has already put henna on the hands of the unfortunate girls but she doesnt want a bad omen on hr marriage by getting mehendi from a widow like her.Anandi stops her saying that she has been taught by dadisa that a whatever a noble person does is always good on luck,Then how can someone,who always prays and thinks about others’ happiness bring bad luck if she puts henna on someone’s hands.She asks dadisa that when she is responsible for all the colours of happiness in anandi’s life right now,cant she give her this colour on her hands.Dadisa is very emotional to hear this.
